North of the Trout River off Main Street in Jacksonville, Florida, lies a little known community called Broward Pointe. Its location on the forested peninsula of land encompassing the eastern end of Broward Road provides an ideal enclave for quiet living convenient to all parts of the metropolitan area. Most of the homes in Broward Pointe are decades old, except for the recent addition of a few large custom homes and two small subdivisions of two story family homes by a national builder. It truly is a diverse neighborhood, with several residents being direct descendants of former Governor Napoleon Bonaparte Broward. At the western end of this pleasant neighborhood, a new gated community is being added to Broward Pointe. RiverEdge at Broward Pointe contains ten large homesites, with six directly on the deep water branch of the Trout River known as Merritt Creek, where boaters can enjoy the benefits of the St. Johns River waterway. The Bert Maxwell public boat ramp is less than a five minute drive by boat or car, so putting a boat in the water to have it at the back of the house would take very little time.
